Treatments

Four ways to change how your teeth look

Which one is right depends on whether the problem is the shape of your teeth, their shade, their position, or the state of the teeth themselves. Each page below explains what the treatment does, what it costs and how long it lasts.

  • Clear Aligners

We use clinically proven and trusted Clear Aligner brands to ensure you get the best, but also most cost-effective treatment.

    About clear aligners

  • Teeth Whitening

Dentist-supervised whitening with custom-made trays. Stronger and safer than anything sold over the counter, and legal only under a dentist.

    About teeth whitening

  • Composite Bonding

Premium white composite shaped onto teeth in a single visit - restore chips, gaps, worn edges, etc, with virtually zero drilling of teeth enamel.

    About composite bonding

  • Crowns, Veneers & Bridges

We use the latest Ceramic Veneer technology to reface front teeth to restore and enhance your smile.

Dr Yunus Akhalwaya, cosmetic dentist, in blue scrubs at his practice in Braintree, Essex

The dentist you will actually see

I qualified in 1999 and have spent most of that time doing the kind of work on this site - bonding, whitening, aligners and restorative dentistry - for people who had put it off, often for years.

Most of the patients I see are nervous, embarrassed about their teeth, or have been quoted a number by someone else and want a second opinion. None of that is unusual and none of it needs explaining away. You will not be sold a smile makeover you do not need.

I am registered with the General Dental Council, number 76806. And because it is me at every visit, if anything ever needs adjusting afterwards, you come straight back to me and I put it right.

What patients say

Reviews of my care at the Together Dental practice, published on Trustpilot. They are about general dentistry rather than cosmetic work, and they are here because how someone treats a nervous patient is the same either way.

  • “Excellent as always. Dr Akhalwaya cured my 50 year phobia of dentists, for which I am truly thankful. Would highly recommend.”

Yves Tighe Trustpilot · November 2024

  • “I would avoid the dentist for the rest of my life if I could, which I did for almost a decade because my fear was so bad. Dr Akhalwaya is always so good with me and patient. I didn't have a panic attack, which is always a win. Thank you for being understanding of my hellish anxiety and fear.”

Sarah Bear Trustpilot · March 2025

  • “After having many bad experiences with dentists I can honestly say my dentist Yunus Akhalwaya is amazing. I can now have fillings and extractions done without having a panic attack and paying to be sedated. Thank you so much for patience and understanding.”

Claire Goodwin Trustpilot · February 2025

  • “I had to book in for a last minute appointment due to an impacted wisdom tooth. Mr Akhalwaya and his assistant couldn't have been nicer. I felt listened to, cared for and treated with kindness.”

Victoria Hammersley Trustpilot · January 2026

  • “I enjoy meeting up for my six monthly check ups with Yunus. He is professional and caring. If you're scared of dental treatment, stop being terrified, simply make a call. You'll be in good hands.”

    Norman Trustpilot · March 2025

  • “My dentist Mr Akhalwaya is excellent. He numbs my gum so I don't feel the injection and I don't feel the drilling. He explains everything. I'm very happy.”

    Paula O'Halloran Trustpilot · July 2026

Questions patients ask before booking

If yours is not here, ask it at the consultation - that is what the appointment is for.

Do I have to be a patient at Together Dental to see you?

No. I work as an independent private dentist from the Together Dental practice in Braintree, and my cosmetic patients come to me directly. You do not need to register with the practice, change your NHS dentist, or leave whoever you currently see for check-ups.

What does the consultation cost?

£80, and there is no obligation to book anything afterwards. You get a proper look and an honest opinion on what would actually make a difference. If I think you do not need treatment, I will tell you. You leave with a written fixed-fee quote and no deposit taken.

How do I know which treatment I need?

That is what the consultation is for. Broadly: bonding reshapes teeth, whitening changes shade only, aligners move teeth into position, and veneers or crowns rebuild them. Most smile concerns are solved by two of these treatments, sometimes three, rarely all four of them.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Treatment plans can be spread over 6 to 12 months at 0% interest, subject to a straightforward affordability check. The total you pay is the same as paying up front - there is no premium for spreading it, and no cost for asking.

Will whitening work on crowns, veneers or bonding?

No. Whitening only lightens natural tooth enamel. Crowns, veneers and composite bonding keep the shade they were made in. This is why, when both are planned, we whiten first and match the new restorations to the lighter shade afterwards - never the other way round.

How long does cosmetic treatment usually take?

Composite bonding is normally a single appointment of two to three hours. Whitening runs over two to three weeks at home. Clear aligners take an average of five to twelve months depending on how much movement is needed. Veneers and crowns are two visits, roughly three weeks apart.
